5:30 AM: I wake up from a dream thinking “Whom didn’t silence their phone? Ah yes, I’m sleeping”. I remind myself today to not forget to laugh.
6:30 AM: Liketoknow.it Shoot on Charles St. My favorite street with townhomes that has the sun barely peaking at 6:30 AM and zero traffic.
7:00 AM: Starbucks Hudson & 10th.
7:10 AM: Yesterday’s blog post today. At 7:10 AM? I’m getting better at this.
7:13 AM: Publish to LiketoKnow.it
8:00 AM: JoJo’s Jot: Focus on the goal achieved in the future and change a small piece of one’s behavior can ultimately lead to that achieved goal.
10:30 AM: I walk through SoHo and come across some great food and shopping spots. The Ferrera bakeries smell divine. There’s a Christmas store that’s open year round and sometimes the streets are blocked off just for people to walk, shop, and dine. This is called Mulberry St and it’s in the heart of SoHo.
JoJo’s Jot: Ben’s Garden is a neat shop, similar to CoCo & Dash in Dallas, Texas. Great decorations, good prices, and beautiful coffee table pieces like “The Big Book of The Hamptons”. The inside is covered in white and gold, a trendy style that’s coming to a lot of shops, especially millennials.
JoJo’s Jot: 11:00 AM: Cafe Habana is a great and reasonably priced Cuban restaurant that has great food, service and location. The waitresses dress in Habana outfits of bright blue and white colors with skirts.
Their Silverwear is Winco Stainless Princeton.
Cafe Habana’s Address:
17 Prince St
New York, NY 1002
Get there early.
12:38 PM: Washington Square Park: Park Ranger finds a federally protected red spotted baby hawk, its parents, and their nest. The reason the ranger is out is because the baby hawk was in an altercation with another hawk. By the way, the baby hawk is about the size of a kindergartner.
1:00 PM: I run into a student film shooting at NYU in the park and give them my contact info as I’m always open for on-camera opportunities as long as they are fitting.
1:30 PM: I get together with some friends and we head down 8th street which has a day fair going on including drawing of “passed” beautiful birds in plastic bins, hula hooping, food, drinks, restaurants, life-sized chess, Jenga, & more.
2:00 PM: I head into a great natural foods market and get a great liter of milk.
3:00 PM: I head to the Hudson for my daily six mile run. This time I’m going to run up to The World Trade Center to test run its surrounding trails. There are plenty of people out today since it’s Saturday.
5:30 PM: I hit equinox High Line for the sauna and showers and then Manhattan Fruit Market for my $8.00 dinner.
JoJo’s Jot: Salad and Fruit Bar close up at 6:00 PM on Saturday so get there early.
7:30 PM: I had the most magical experience at Marie’s Crisis Cafe, West Village in which I walked underground into a bar that had a built in piano in the center, a crowd gathered and we all sang Les Miserables: I Dreamed a Dream and I belted it. We also sang “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, “Part of That World” from The Little Mermaid, & songs from Hello Dolly. In West Village, when one walks into a bar, one walks into song. I never thought I’d see the day & now I’ve seen everything. I was moved, touched, and almost teared when I left to hit the hay at 9:00 PM. I look forward to going back.
JoJo’s Jot: There is absolutely no video, flash, or picture taking whatsoever in this cafe due to performer reasons here in The City.
