6:40 AM Woke up after hitting the hay later than usual which I almost never do. Went back to sleep to get the full eight so that today is productive.
8:20 AM awoke up before my alarm as always and first victory down for the day. I get a rush when I wake up before my alarm and actually get up. It’s a natural reward for me.
9:45 AM I get off on 50th instead of 53rd & 5th Ave. I choose to wait for the next E Train so I don’t get my Sunday clothes messy before Mass.
10:00 AM I get to walk side by side with two Sisters (nuns) while entering the church and I begin to stop thinking about myself.
10:05 AM Previous Mass is exiting and I look forward to sitting closer to the altar than last Mass which I almost got cut off from entering due to arriving at 10:15 AM getting off at the Natural History Museum. The City has done a great job adding dinosaur bones to the walls of the subway. It’s cute and gives the subway charm.
11:47 AM Out of St. Patrick’s Cathedral 10:15 AM Choir Memorial Day Mass. It is always a beautiful event and I get to say “Thank You” to the men and women who sacrifice their time & lives for their country. I have the privilege of attending Mass because of them. I attend Mass because it reminds me to remain humble and kind to others. I get to thank a few service men & women for their service walking down the steps.
4:14 PM I go for a walk after lunch to Cafe Panino Mucho Giusto and love the overcast weather as my back took a beating from the sun on the beach Coney Island. I love finding outdoor benches on my walks because they give me a good pause point to sit and reflect while planning my next walk.
5:00 PM I head towards Chelsea and stumble upon a big black bridge making its way through the concrete jungle. I climb the steps and am on The NYC High Line. It’s quite the tourist trap and more like a pedestrian highway. I stumble across what I call the “Pinecone Mirror Stairway to Heaven”. It begins to rain and all tourists run for cover. I head into Hudson Yards shopping mall to get water and healthy food at Citarella and purchase an umbrella at Uniqlo.
7:30 PM I have a friend whom has moved to the city and has invited me to dinner at Doc Watson’s in the Upper East Side. I am delighted and postpone my Chelsea Market visit for another day.
11:11 PM Headed home as I need to hit the hay. Although tomorrow’s a holiday, I know I’ll wake up at 5:40 AM. Had a great time with friends.
