Just because I’m on vacation, doesn’t mean I can’t stay productive!
The pools and beaches are wonderful but an even bigger bonus is getting things done while I’m relaxed.
This doesn’t mean run a marathon, but what it does mean is welcoming into my mind positive, rewarding, and educating resources and actions that benefit myself and others.
1. Write Thank-You Notes
Don’t try this in the pool but instead give this a shot in your favorite pool side lounge chair or sofa. One of my fave things to do when I get up and head to the pool is taking that monogrammed stationery with me and thinking about the latest friend, family member, or business relationship to be grateful for and writing that thank-you note! This doesn’t have to be a an interminable tome; this can simply be a jotted note such as, “Appreciate the times together,” and, “Thanks for the business deal!”.
2. Call that Friend on Your Mind
Vacations are rewarding for a multitude of reasons. One of them is that vacas give you the freedom to call that friend that’s been on your mind. We do live in a busy world so why not start out with a text, “Hi Sarah, hope you’re doing well! Thinking about you and wanted to see if you’d be free for a call this afternoon at 1:00 PM EST.” It’s important to give a target time with the time zone as so many of us travel these days.
3. Catch up on Reading
“There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away.” (Robert Louis Stevenson). Reading brings such joy and it’s free. As long as it’s interesting, I love many books. Whether I’m catching up on the latest trends, reading about the histories of humanity, or getting fine wisdom from books, reading changes my life for the better! A great book—what I call a starter book—is, The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts. The interesting part about this book is that one does not need nor have to be in love. Reading this book has enabled me to understand even better how people work in every day life with loved ones and with fellow employees.
4. Get Movin’
One of my other faves on vacation is working out! Speaking of working out, why not hit The Breakers Resort Ocean Fitness club? Elegant, luxurious, and with a phenom staff, this second floor patio fitness center is popping. One of the exciting parts about working out on vacation? Remember that great feeling after working out at home? Working out on vacation is double that! Best of all, Ocean Fitness is right above the pool and the Atlantic Ocean – what an incredible view!
Odds are, I’ll be here tomorrow and the next day so I like to set goals. Both short-term and long-term, goals are part of the successful lifestyle and are baby steps when combined with giant leaps! Goals are exciting, motivating, and change my world! From reading an additional five minutes a day to sliding in that extra bowl of fruit a day in my lifestyle diet, some of the most gradual goals can be the most satisfying!
Have a great day! JJJ
